The support of The Cambridge Charitable Foundation has allowed The Salvation Army to enhance their youth programs.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army‘s Youth Development: After School and Summer Enrichment Programs are located in neighborhoods where youth face challenges to their health, well-being, and future. Children impacted by their Youth Development programs are 6 – 12 years of age and live in the most impoverished inner-city areas – residing in rundown, substandard housing, drug and crime-infested neighborhoods. The Salvation Army invests time and money to ensure a brighter future for the youth in our community. The Salvation Army’s Summer Enrichment and After School Programs foster academic growth through music, art, community engagement, recreational activities, nutritious meals, conflict resolution, character training, academic support, and assessment.

The support of The Cambridge Charitable Foundation has allowed The Salvation Army to enhance their youth programs and achieve successful outcomes for youths that would otherwise not be possible. The unique qualities of The Salvation Army’s Youth Development Programs are the field trip opportunities where the kids explore the museums, the aquarium, sporting events, and even make it possible for the children to enjoy a week at The Salvation Army’s Camp SWONEKY where they engage in the arts, music, horseback riding, and much more.

The Salvation Army’s Youth Development Programs take a holistic approach with each child enrolled in the programs. The Salvation Army’s diverse accumulation of programs allow expertise in many realms that enable them to not only address a child’s needs in many ways, but also address the needs of their extended family to ensure that families maintain self sufficiency.

Here is a specific story about a child that attended their Youth Development Programs – Brittany is pictured with a white and green balloon hat as she was assisting with a lemonade fundraiser.

“Brittany Bright has been attending the Salvation Church and Programs for over five years. Brittany is a loyal attendee in many Corps activities including Sunday Worship, Day Camp, LemonAid Fundraising efforts, Afterschool Program, Girl Guards, Worship Arts and our awesome Teen Group. As Brittany aged out of our elementary targeted programs, she remained dedicated to learn and grow in faith with a desire to help and give back to the programs that did so much for her over the years. This past summer, Brittany held the position of a Junior Day Camp Counselor. Brittany volunteered her time assisting in the day camp program. Brittany helped with a variety of activities and encouraged the younger children just like her counselors encouraged her.”

It is a wonderful blessing and powerful testimony to witness the impact of The Salvation Army’s Youth Development Programs through a child like Brittany.
